ESMI (My Name)

I was so happy when I passed by Cuadro Art Gallery in Dubai last week and saw Manal AlDowayan art work "ESMI" "اسمي" at the gallery.  It's about a social practice in the Arabian Gulf society.  Manal meant the Saudi Society in particular and how offensive for men to mention the name of the women in their lives publicly which is not even in our religion rules.
She created an extra large "Mesbah" مسباح made of wood and asked a group of girls in her society to write their name down on each piece and to be proud of it.
